You can just
picture yourself in your living room, similar, yet completely different to the
African Plains where the large cats hang out in prides! Proud-full they are, just like us. They sleep together, they hunt together, they
do almost everything together ---and there she/he/we/us is, sitting proudly above
---the King of the Jungle! …Regal
…Relaxing in our living room, just like any African Plain, enjoying each other’s company.
And then,
suddenly, your daughter's cat drops a bird corpse at your feet. The cat sits there nervously waiting for ...something? Perhaps, he waits for a reply, but I couldn’t
say. And then, your reaction wasn’t what
the cat expected and he’s gone …
Dear Dr. Pet
Guy,
I was wondering
if you could figure this out for me. I’ve
talked to other cat lovers and they all tell me similar stories.
Thank you, Admirer
Dear
Admirer,
Thank you. Um …it just brings tears to my eyes. Your cat loves you very much. Yes he does.
Excellent work!! But most of all,
he respects you. That’s two exclamations. First of all, you must accept the fact that
you also have a pride. Those creatures
in your living room are your Pride! Do you
understand? Be Proud-full.
Your cat is
obviously proud of you. He sees you at
or about the top of your Pride’s hierarchy ---and he wants to share the surplus
of food with you. You see, your cat is
celebrating! Just like a celebration at
your house during the holidays. He’d
rather give the surplus of food to you, and have you enjoy it, than enjoy it
himself. Just wonderful. Congratulations!
